1ST Half

Game kicked of and we didn’t seem to make a good start with Ashton Boys forcing us on the back foot and putting all the pressure on the home team defence. We just didn’t seem to have the normal drive and control we normally show in matches and after seven minutes Ashton Boys took a 1-0 lead in the game. We then started to wake up a little bit and started playing football and forcing them to concede a corner which Owen delivered into the box. But they managed to clear it and attacked us down the wing. A dangerous looking cross was diverted into our own net for a own goal to make it 2-0, which was hard to take as we had started to play football. It stayed at 2-0 up until half-time. During the half-time team talk the boys where given a talking too telling them that the team they were playing were no better than them and to go back to the way we had played in recent weeks.

2nd half

We kicked of and looked a different team straight from the whistle moving the ball with nice interchanges between midfield and defence and with both moving forward as a unit we looked like we could get back into the game. After some good play between Ryan and Jacob we created a chance for the Birdman but he just put his shot wide. At this stage though it looked like the team talk had done the trick as all the boys were now playing for each other and it became a joy to watch as both teams battled for control of the game. We continued to push, looking for the goal we deserved to get us back in the game. Eli has a good volley which just goes wide and we were beginning to create chances on each attack we launched with Jacob and Ryan just shooting wide after some good play.

Game finished 2-0 to Ashton boys.

M.O.M: JACOB MOORE He showed great drive and determination in the midfield for us and took on board what was said at half-time. He was also unlucky not to score.

1ST Half

Ashton kicked off and attacked us straight away but we manage to stamp out their attack with Josh and Rhys working well to clear the ball. We managed to turn defence into an attack for ourselves with Kaka finding Tyler with a good pass. From Tyler ’s run we win a free kick which Matthew puts just wide. Ashton responded and managed to break through our defence to make it 1-0. This seemed to make the boys even more determined to find the goal to get back into the game. Once again Tyler causes problems with his pace and direct running style which earns us another free-kick. Matthew takes it again and just puts it over the cross bar with the keeper rooted to the spot. Callum has a good run down the wing and his cross is just missed by Kaka who just couldn’t get on the end of it. Half-time 1-0 to Ashton boys.

2nd half

We kicked off and went in search of the equaliser but Ashton seemed just able to deal with our attacks and just failed to score with one of there own. Josh is looking very strong in defence and always looks to use the ball when in control of it. From one of his many passes Matthew has a good run down the wing but we just fell to get in the box to tap in a good cross. A rare mistake at the back lets in the Ashton forward who hits a hard drive goal bound and Ellis just fails to keep it out. Good effort with  attempted save though but it makes it 2-0 to Ashton boys. Callum is having a strong game up and down the wing working well with both Kaka and Tyler who seems to cause problems every time he has the ball. With a fine effort going just wide, we keep pushing with captain Kaka driving us forward looking for a way back into the game. Then we get hit with the sucker punch and concede the third goal which is unlucky as the boys battled really well. Game finishes 3-0 to Ashton boys.

M.O.M: ELLIS JONES The keeper who pulled of one great save that even his goal keeping coach would have been proud of! He was calm and confident in everything that he did.
